National Volunteer Week Day of Service. Maybe do something nice for a neighbor?
Canoa Hills Trails Park Drag Out Event
Wednesday, April 30th, 9:00am - 12;00 noon at Canoa Hills Trails Park
This Wednesday, April 30, from 9:00 am until Noon, we will be dragging brush out of the golf course perimeter.  This, as always, is hosted by the Pima County Park.  The forecast is for sunshine and a high of 86.  Sunscreen, a wide hat, and a lot to drink are advised.  We will be particularly interested in the head count.  We could do this all summer if we have enough willing hands... and we could start earlier when it is cooler.

This isn't an easy place to get to.  Matt, from County, will lead a group in from the old driving range parking lot.  I will be leading volunteers in from the cul-de-sac at the bottom of Camino de la Oca.  Our Volunteer group will be bolstered this month by an extra crew from the County.  We hope to make a real dent in this area this month.  Less brush, ANYWHERE,  means fewer embers flying about in a wildfire.  Embers can go for miles, so anything we pull out of the Trails Park makes us all safer--even if we are not next door to the area being worked.

Thank you to all who will participate!

Canoa Hills Trails Park Drag Out Event
Wednesday, September 24th, 9:00am at Canoa Hills Trails Park
The last Wednesday of each month from 9:00am - Noon MST at Canoa Hills Trails Park

Each month we will work in a different location! We will always be pulling deadwood out of the old golf course/Trails Park, but the work area is chosen each month by the County. Bring gloves! Water will be available on site. Meet before 9:00am in the old driving range parking lot to catch a ride to the new site.

County trucks will haul it away! We will not be doing any chain saw work. We are simply dragging out the deadwood for the county to haul away. Even if you don't live close to the work site, the deadwood we eliminate will reduce the intensity of any wildfire and reduce the embers that would fly through the air towards our homes. So... this worksite may not be next door, but it does make us ALL safer to reduce the fuel load anywhere in the Trails Park.
